The 3 C's: Connections, Communication, and Coordination

Both speakers began a career with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in 2007. The two were great co-workers and soon became friends.  Years later they both manage and oversee the training in two of the largest consolidated communications centers in Alabama.  Their connection and spirit to serve brought them together.  Their communication abilities built their careers with strong foundations.  Now hear how they collaborate efforts between their agencies to provide the best training for dispatchers and call takers.

Speakers Bios:

Renee Whitcomb, Jefferson County 911 Training Coordinator

Lee Hedrick, Shelby County 911 Training Manager

Renee was with Marengo County 911 for approximately 2 years as a 911 Dispatcher. She then went to ALEA (Highway Patrol Communications) and was assigned to the Birmingham Post. While there, she served as a Communications Training Officer, Instructor, and worked in the Mobile Command Unit. Renee also received PCO (Police Communications Officer) of the Year and DPS Director’s Coin for accomplishments. She was then promoted again and reassigned to Headquarters in Montgomery, where she served as a Communications Supervisor. Renee continued her duties in Mobile Command on Special Details such as Mardi Gras, the 50th Anniversary Bridge Crossing (Selma), The Southern Legislative Conference, and other major events throughout the state. Now, Renee is now the Communications Training Coordinator for Jefferson County 911 ECD, Inc.

Lee Hedrick, ENP, is the Training Manager for Shelby County 911.  Mr. Hedrick has 12 years of experience in public safety working with municipal, county, and state governments.  Prior to working with Shelby County 911, he was a Police Communications Officer in the Highway Patrol Division of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, previously the Alabama Department of Public Safety.  He has a broad range of experience that includes everything from CAD database management to the processing and dispatching of emergency calls.  Mr. Hedrick is a certified Emergency Number Professional and is currently pursuing a degree in Emergency Management from Drury University.
