Minutes: Alabama Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association Quarterly Meeting, Tuscumbia, Alabama, Tom Bevill Center, July 23, 1998.

I. Call to Order: President Art Faulkner called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

II. Opening Prayer: The prayer was led by Brad Smith.

III. Pledge of Alliance: President Art Faulkner lead the Pledge of Alliance.

IV. Welcome: Commissioner Thomas Pennington welcomed everyone to Colbert County.

V. New/First Time Attenders: President Faulkner welcomed Larry Thomas of Dale County, Ernie Blair of Madison County, Scott Miller of Clay County, Floyd Wilson of Houston County, Michelle Newton of PowerTel, Suzie Craycraft and Glenn Roach of XY Point.

VI. Addition to Agenda: AT &T Language Line and a plead to pledge new members were added to the agenda.

VII. Approval of Minutes: Motion and second to approve minutes of April 23, 1998. Motion carried.

VIII. Approval of Financial Report: Motion and second to approve financial report. Motion carried.

IX. Legislative/Wireless: No report.

X. Conference: 1) A brochure of the Conference will be available in a week or two. 2) Leroy Jordon will be a guest speaker. 3) A new band has been hired for the Positron party. 4) The educational sessions will be strong. 5) The Shrimp Boil is planned. 6) Golf Tournament the first 60 to sign-up will play. 7) There is a possibility that Spudd Web will be the closing speaker. 8) An educational session for Board members is being planned. 9) Seth ask for donations of bag stuffers, need quantities of at least 500.

10) Please return your registration as soon as possible. 11) The Conference dates are October 11 thru October 14, 1998. 12) The Conference is taking on National and Regional prominence.

XI. Membership: A new members packet for AL NENA is needed, see Art or Ron. We need to work on recruiting new members in Alabama.

XII. History: No report.

XIII. Education: Russ is putting together a database class, E-mail Russ with details on the database you use.

XIV. Newsletter: Please commend Chris Hager on the good job she is doing on the Newsletter, please send articles in for the newsletter. If anyone is having problems receiving the Newsletter please see Seth (Baldwin County).

XV. Old Business: 1) Sessions will be listed on Website.

2) If you want to be added to the to the E-Mail list go to AL NENA website.

3) Any links that are interesting send to John Ellison.

4) Commendation to John Ellison for his work on the website.

5) Let Art know if you do not have access to the website or E-Mail.


XVI. Wireless Board:
1) AL NENA recommended two people to be on the Board, they are Bill Meadows (Lee County) and Max Armstrong (Blount County).

2) A quorum is needed for the meeting to conduct business.

3) Please report any Wireless providers who are not collecting.


XVII. AT &T Language Line:
1) Last month 21 calls were made totaling $303.10 from an unidentified PSAP.

2) Members must use proper codes or AL NENA will have to pay.

3) Motion and second to table the possibility of paying a $50.00 annual fee to AL NENA for the Language Line. Motion carried.

XVIII. New Business: 1) Nominations for 2nd Vice President are open for the floor or by mail. Janice Lewis, Seth Phelps and Richard Holt are the nomination committee. Nominees need a letter from their Board to make the nomination official.

2) Brad Smith has been officially nominated.

3) Ballots will be by mail or return at the conference by 12:00 Monday, October 12, 1998.

4) Motion and second to go forward with creating the committee to form the "Past Presidents Committee", the committee will consist of AL NENA past presidents. Motion carried.

6) Condolences to Bill Meadows on the death of his mother. Please make donations to the Ethel Thompson Meadows fund, Opelika Park and Recreation. Motion and second to donate $100.00 from AL NENA. Motion carried.

XIX. The next meeting will be held October 12, 1998, following the luncheon at 1:00 p.m. at the October Conference, both Govenatorial candidates have been invited.

XX. To adjourn: Motion and second to adjourn at 11:30 a.m. Motion carried.
